Killing options

The Compact Kinetic High Energy Missile system is cool. Why did they kill this project? I just recently watched the “Generation Kill” mini-series, and they could have really used this kind of system with them when they were pushing through Iraq facing the possibility of going up against T72 tanks with just HMMVs. I am inclined to think that the system was killed, not because it didn’t work or was defected (it was tested and was effective), but instead was simply killed because of the bureaucratic inertia against organizing this kind of system into the force. If they had kept the system then they would have had the option, in a situation like happened with First Recon in Iraq, they could have handed these guys a couple of these units, trained them to use them, and then they would’ve been much better prepared for the possibility of facing armor. I am inclined to think that this is because the people behind the scenes don’t have enough trust in the troops that would be operating the system, and are too stuck in the mindset, the worldview, that says that troops and units are totally exchangeable and are made of dumb soldiers. A mindset that says, essentially, don’t give them enough rope to hang themselves.
