Want the speed and functionality of command-line but don’t want to give up all your graphics? The blog over at terminallyincoherent.com offers up a listing of terminal applications to enable one to work entirely from a GNU/Linux terminal while keeping a functional user interface and some graphics, without the X Server or any desktop environment.
